Thollon Les Memises Skiing, Walking, Winter and Summer Activities

Thollon les Memises is a Savoyard village just above Evian on the “balcony” of Lake Leman (Lake Geneva) just below the magnificent Pic des Memises. It is situated at about one thousand metres altitude with excellent panoramic views over Evian and the lake, across to Lausanne and the Swiss Jura mountains.

The Lake From The Slopes

With over fifty kilometres of beginner and intermediate slopes, and its fabulous views, Thollon is a great location for a winter skiing or activity holiday. For more skiing there is straightforward access to the whole of the Port du Soleil area (Chatel, Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets) as well as Chamonix.

Several other Swiss resorts are within easy reach, e.g., Villars, Gstaad and Glacier 3000. And for those who don’t ski, hire some snow shoes and you can still enjoy the fabulous lake and mountain views that Thollon les Memises provides.

Evian

During the summer months, alpine walking, sailing, water skiing, swimming, riding and golf are all within a short drive. The golf courses include Royal Evian, Les Gets, Avoriaz and Chatel. For sightseeing and tourist activities, Annecy, Montreux, Yvoire, Evian, Geneva, Chillon Castle and Gruyeres are all within a short drive.

In the winter or summer there is no shortage of things to do – the thermal pools at Lavey les Bains are a ‘must’ – being very special at night in the snow.

Thollon is really quite unique – particularly as a skiing resort and as a base for a summer activity holiday. It combines all the advantages of a winter ski resort but with the proximity of one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Europe, Lake Geneva. From a weather point of view, the climate can be quite special. As one of the locals said to us, ‘ the lake is very kind to us’. Since we came to Thollon we have had wonderful summers allowing us to spend lots of time at the numerous lake side beaches and swimming ‘plages’. The sunsets over the lake can be quite stunning and, in winter, the largely north facing slopes tend to retain the snow allowing for skiing when the ‘season’ at some other resorts may be over.

For some, Thollon is still a largely undiscovered ‘gem’ – those who have found it tend to return year after year!. Our studio is extremely comfortable (as our guests have confirmed) and we will do all that we can to help make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.
